Summit Insurance Services, Benefit Specialist, Leesburg, VA

Education Requirements: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
 
Experience or Skills Required:   
Current Virginia health insurance license or ability to immediately obtain.
Minimum two years of experience in one of the following areas: 
o employee benefits (preferred)
o project management
o business account servicing
Knowledge of all life, disability, health, and dental areas (both financial and benefits) for multiple insurance companies or TPA (Third Party Administrator) vendors.
Knowledge of compliance requirements, and State and Federal legislation.
Computer skills required with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
Strong knowledge of vendor and competitor strengths and weakness.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Bilingual-Spanish a plus.
 
Job Duties:
Establish and consistently maintain high level of confidence and trust through periodic contacts.
Promptly respond to clients and resolve client questions and issues related to claims, billing, enrollment and other group related issues.
Interface with clients, agents, other team members and vendors/carriers for new business implementation and renewal processes.
Prepare proposals, spreadsheets and enrollments for new business and renewing clients.
Handle or provide resources to clients regarding open enrollment meetings, including customized material preparation and communication.
Ensure knowledge is maintained and prepare resource information for clients to continually keep informed of benefit trends, State and Federal legislation, rules and regulations.
Review all agreements and/or documents for accuracy.
Handle all HIPAA protected information with the highest level of protection and discretion.
Provide support to Account Management team as needed.
Learn and apply each vendor’s and carrier’s procedure for processing requests (enrollment, cancellation, change, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned.
 

 

Summit Insurance Services, Commercial Property and Casualty Agent
The location of this position is flexible and could potentially be at one of the following locations: Moorefield, WV, Winchester, VA or Harrisonburg, VA.  The individual in this position will handle both West Virginia and Virginia business, but mostly West Virginia.

Education requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience or Skill requirements:  

  • 5 years commercial insurance experience required. 
  • Property and Casualty Insurance license required.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to travel the assigned geographic territory. 
  • Experience or ability to learn and utilize company-approved software and business system applications.
  • Able to interpret and analyze data, insurance policies, and financial statements.
  • Understand and able to work within a regulatory environment.
  • Understand and apply techniques to manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of professionalism and motivation.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work individually and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of sales techniques, principles of sales, and sales terminology preferred.

Duties:

  • Develop leads, schedule appointments, identify customer needs, and market appropriate products.
  • Achieve annual new business production goals through consultative sales to new clients and expansion of current clients. Develop and manage an active pipeline of qualified prospects, generating leads from personal contacts, cold calling, networking, client referrals.
  • Develop a business development plan and marketing strategies to compete with other individuals or companies who sell commercial insurance. 
  • Work on multiple coverage lines including but not limited to commercial property, commercial general liability, business owner’s policies, commercial packages, commercial auto etc. – experience in trucking, technology and government contracting preferred.
  • Establish client relationships and follow up with customers.
  • Develop, maintain or establish relationship with underwriters, brokers and non-standard markets.
  • Provide prompt, accurate, and friendly customer service, including responses to specific inquiries regarding insurance eligibility, coverage’s, policy changes, transfers, claims, and billing.
  • Maintain high activity level and strong work ethic with a total commitment to success each and every day.
  • Travel within the market and bank branches locations for the purposes of business development and client meetings. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Summit Insurance Services, Full-Time Group Benefit Manager,  Leesburg, VA

Experience or Skill requirements:

  • Minimum five years employee benefit experience preferred
  • Minimum of five years of management experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of all life, disability, health, and dental areas (both financial and benefits) for multiple insurance companies or TPA vendors
  • Computer skills required with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office package
  • Strong knowledge of vendor and competitor strengths and weakness
  • Current Virginia health insurance license or ability to immediately obtain
  • Excellent organizational and communication skill
  • Excellent senior level presentation skills are a must
  • Available for small amounts of travel and willing to accept responsibility for client/vendor interaction

 

Duties:

  • Provide planning and consulting advice from enrollment through renewal for large group insurance accounts.
  • Supervise the Benefit Specialists and Account Managers
  • Maintain carrier relationships
  • Work toward meeting carrier contingency bonuses
  • Ensure Group Department is meeting retention and service expectations
  • Develop and maintain weekly training for Group Department
  • Initiate client and prospect communications with new industry developments
  • Recruit new Benefit Specialist and Account Managers as needed
  • Attend networking and industry events as requested by COO and CEO
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings with clients
  • Facilitate collaboration between Group Department and agents
  • Keep informed of benefit trends, state and federal legislation, rules, and regulations.
  • Meet at least quarterly with clients to:
    • review large claims, service history, and monthly claim issues
    • set strategies and goals
    • conduct Question and Answer sessions.

Education requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field or equivalent education and experience. 

Experience/Skill requirements:  

  • Current Virginia Life and Health Insurance license or ability to obtain within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Minimum 3 consecutive years of professional experience required. 
  • Business to business sales, business development, or marketing experience required. 
  • Computer skills required with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office package. 
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills. 
  • Professional and goal oriented.
  • Motivated and self-starter.

Duties:

  • Enter outcomes in agency database, schedule appointments, work on proposals and provide some service support.
